What We Plan to Do with Your Complaints
This site is different from most "gripe" or "shaming" websites. First, we're not trying to out the individual permit holder as much as we're trying to use individual permit abuse to highlight the larger problem, then put the burden on the agency brass to rectify the problem. We plan to aggressively follow up on your complaints of illegal permit parking by:
- Requesting information from agencies about permit policy, permit validity, permit users, legal uses of permits and the chain of command above permit abusers using the New York State Freedom of Information Law
- Directing your complaints to supervisors and disciplinary authorities within agencies
- Lobbying our elected officials to pass new laws to limit permit abuse
- Encouraging the NYPD to start ticketing permit abusers
- Taking legal action, as appropriate
We don't expect instant results, but we believe that if we apply consistent pressure on all these fronts that we can make a substantial dent in permit abuse in this New York City.
