The battle cry of those who deliberately illegally park and get criticized for it. They have no sensitivity to the increased risks that their selfishness and gluttony have on those around them.
Blocked fire hydrant for hours - Black Friday specials are way too much to pass up - I just got a big fat raise recently and I really need that limited edition doll.
Folks like this should not be allowed anywhere near authority and power - yet they seem the rule and not the exception.

Recurring Illegal parking by this driver - no standing anytime - next to school, 2 malls, and between 2 merging streets. This is dangerous for autos and pedestrians especially with the chronic jaywalking at this location.
110th is in cahoots with the lawbreakers, as they understand that by displaying nypd info, no summons will be issued. 110th makes good on that.

Rikers island worker
287 East 10th st, Manhattan. Observed by lawandorder on Sun, Nov 23 2008
There's always lots of illegal parking in front of the Boys Club of New York in the East Village -- parking in No Parking Anytime zones, in bike lanes, in front of hydrants, double parking and idling, not to mention insurance fraud! Most drivers have "Official Boys Club" permits, which have no legal standing. This person had a Boys Club permit and a DOC Rikers Island placard, also not usable here. NYPD is complicit in this illegality and does nothing despite repeated 311 calls.

The 110th precinct agrees with this driver.

Stopping Business
40 Bruckner Blvd., Bronx. Observed by delsav23 on Thu, Nov 20 2008
There is a parole office across the street from us. We are a construction company that has active loading docks that are in constant use through out the day, especially in the morning. These people with their "State of NY Police" placards park right in front of our garage doors causing our business to come to a stop. The nerve and total disregard is pathetic and we are outraged with the situation.
USPS still on sidewalk
432 East 13th st, Manhattan. Observed by lawandorder on Mon, Nov 17 2008
Not only does the USPS employee park on the sidewalk, but she is using somebody else's placard.
In general, the workers at this post office (Peter Stuyvesant Station) break the law daily with their cars -- parking on sidewalks, double parking, parking in No Parking Anytime zones, and, apparently, providing copies of USPS placards to local residents to enable more illegal parking.
Oh, and customer service at this post office is terrible.

This driver was a real piece of work -- parked in front of a fire hydrant, and his/her dashboard festooned with all sorts of placards, stickers and whatnot, as if they were talismans attempting to ward off the evil Traffic Enforcement gods. They included:
* Handicapped placard: not valid for parking in front of hydrants
* Cabrini Physician placard: not valid on this street, sorry
* HHC placard: again, you don't get to park in front of a hydrant with this
* various Fraternal Order of Police and semi-official-looking NYPD stickers, all of which mean zilch
And please don't tell me this person was on an emergency call -- this car is here everyday.
New York Post: ATT'Y IN BRONX DEM WAR IS A PARKING CHEATER
News, New York. Observed by lawandorder on Mon, Nov 17 2008
A well-known attorney involved in a battle for leadership of the Bronx Democratic Party used a bogus firefighter placard to park illegally, The Post has learned.
Lawyer Stanley Schlein was spotted parked in a crosswalk outside the Bronx Supreme Courthouse twice earlier this month, with a Uniformed Firefighters Association placard displayed on his dashboard, according to photos obtained by The Post.
He got away with the infraction once, but a source close to Schlein said the lawyer ended up receiving a $115 violation during one of the courthouse visits.
The placard reads "Active Firefighter," but Schlein is not a firefighter. He received it from a friend at the union because "he is a strong supporter of the UFA," the source said, declining to be identified.
The city's Department of Transportation does not honor parking placards distributed by law-enforcement unions - only those given out by Mayor Bloomberg - but police often turn a blind eye to illegally parked cars with fire- or police-union cards on the dashboards.

Parked illegally in "No Standing Zone", next to school, 2 malls and in between 2 merging streets where a lady was struck down by a car, blinded by the illegals 2 years ago.
Placard on dash indicates that this driver knew that a law was being broken and the driver was conspiring with on duty officers to deliberately evade enforcement of the law.
This is illegal parking elevated to racketeering.
Why should those who volunteered to enforce the law - deliberately break it and endanger others for such small rewards to themselves?
9003 56th Ave, Queens. Observed by hiyall on Sat, Nov 15 2008
Illegally parked in "No Standing Zone" next to school, 2 malls and between 2 merging streets. Creating blind spots and safety hazards for all who pass by this vehicle left by a selfish, arrogant, law breaker to save themselves a little time and money.
Chronic lack of enforcement of city's laws and ordinances by 110th make this a very attractive spot to break the law and a very dangerous spot to have to navigate past.
No speed bump is present to curtail aggression triggered speeding by drivers after they clear the congestion point created by thoughtless drivers such as this one. This poses extra risk to the kids who chronically jay walk in the neighborhood.
Why should those who volunteered to enforce the law - deliberately break it and endanger others for such small rewards to themselves?

City Councilmember's car illegally parked once again
31st Street and Ditmars Blvd., Queens. Observed by neo11 on Thu, Oct 30 2008
Once again, the black Cadillac belonging to a City Councilmember was illegally parked in a no parking zone on 31st Street near Ditmars Blvd. in Astoria, Queens, directly in front of Citibank. This seems to be an almost daily occurrence. The car was there for at least a half hour before 6 pm, when no parking rules no longer apply at this location.

Illegally parked next to school, 2 malls and between 2 merging streets. This is a no standing anytime zone. This selfish driver endangers all in the vicinity of his illegal act.
The placard could be fake - there is no plate number or placard number visible on the placard.
Of course, he is safe from summons or tow as the 110th has shown it self to be deliberately derelict in its duty to police safety hazards in this area in the past.

New York Times: Report Finds Government Top Violator on Parking
News, New York. Observed by lawandorder on Fri, Oct 24 2008
WASHINGTON — Want to park free on the streets of Manhattan, without fear of having to pay tickets? Go to work for the federal government.
In fact, according to the House Transportation Committee, if you have a federal car, you do not have to confine yourself to the streets; you can even park on the sidewalks.
"Essentially, all of Lower Manhattan is a free parking lot for government vehicles," said a report by the committee staff, which also found that the city's Police Department and various city and state agencies are among the top parking-ticket scofflaws.

A guard stands watch over a temporary parking lot in a corner of Columbus Park in front of the Brooklyn Civil Court building. The special lot is supposed to be available to judges only.
A temporary parking lot in a park around Borough Hall has drawn more than just the judges who have been fighting for the controversial spots, Brooklyn News has learned.
Among the 30 drivers who have used the temporary space in Columbus Park while a lot is being constructed for the judges in another part of the park, about half are secretaries, law clerks, court aides and others, a sampling of cars surveyed by Brooklyn News found.
"It should only be judges," said Brooklyn Heights Association office manager Irene Janner, one of many residents outraged even by the judges' use of public space.
"Judges are the ones that raised this whole big stink about their security," Janner continued. "That doesn't hold for the other 50% of those cars."
Brooklyn News found there were fewer judges parked in the lot last week - a 7% decrease since an earlier survey. In March, the Daily News found that of 44 cars, 60% were registered to judges. Last week, of the 30 vehicles, 53% were registered to judges.
